Doneen L. Ziemann, 86, of Rochester died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Seasons Hospice. Doneen was born in Spring Valley, MN on November 6, 1928 to Leon and Pauline(Pankratz) Brandt. A humble and hard working lady, she lived a full life, much of it predicated on the now infamous mudball incident of 1943 involving one Philip Ziemann.Mom and Dad went on from there to build a home in Rochester after Phils return from Army service in World War II.Through their 69 years of marriage, she helped build and provide the foundation for their family to grow upon.Doneen retired after a 25 year career at Mayo Clinic, and enjoyed sewing and knitting clothes for her kids, traveling, reading, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Preceded in death by her father Leon, mother Pauline, and brother William.More importantly, having now left her legacy through her family of five children, Sandra Drake, Shiloy Ziemann (Wendall), Ninette Ziemann, Kathleen VanDerHeyden (Mark) and Michael Ziemann (Kathy); six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. A memorial in celebration of Doneens life will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Norman Wahl officiating.Visitation will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice or Bethel Lutheran Church.
