Obituary for Donald Don M. Sudor Donald Don Sudor, of Rochester, MN, age 86, passed away June 27, 2017. Don was born on September 7, 1930 in St. Paul, MN. After attending Cretin High School, he graduated from the University of Minnesota. In 1951 he married Nina Klundt and they moved to Rochester in 1956 to raise their four children. He worked at IBM for 34 years where he held a variety of technical, administrative, and executive management positions. At the time of retirement he was Manager of External Programs for IBM in the state of Minnesota. It was at IBM where he honed his technique for telling what his children called IBM jokes. In recent years Don served as President of the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce and as a business consultant for Western Digital Corporation. He held many volunteer positions for various civic and professional organizations, including the U of M Rochester Regents Advisory Board, the Greater Rochester Area University Center Board, Governors Advisory Council for MnSCU Board Trustees, and Board of Governors for the U of M Health System. He put many miles on his old green caddy traveling to St. Paul and other cities in SE Minnesota to attend hundreds of board meetings which he thoroughly enjoyed. Other community activities include the Olmsted County Historical Society, Rochester Symphony, and many political organizations and campaigns. Some people say he should have run for mayor. If an organization needed someone for their finance committee, he would gladly help out. Don was an avid sports fan, especially his beloved Minnesota Gophers and the Twins. He coached youth baseball and was a founding member of the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission and served on its board of directors. He followed the sports pages in three newspapers daily. As a loving family man, he was active in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen (Nina) Sudor, and is survived by his daughters Joan (Fletcher) Hinds, Jennifer (Carl) Gebhardt, Ellen (Phil) Griffin, and son Jim (Lori) Sudor, two sisters, and one brother. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 6 with visitation at 10:00 AM at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624- 3rd Ave. S.W., Rochester, MN 55902.
