Rochester- Funeral Services for Donald Don M. Jensen, age 85 will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2124 Viola Road N.E. on Friday, November 18th ,2011 at 1:00 P. M.Burial will be in Oakwood East Cemetery.Visitation will be at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home on Thursday Evening from 5:00P.M.-8:00P.M. And then at the church on Friday from noon until the time of the service. Donald died on Tuesday, November 15th,2011at Madonna Towers of complications of pneumonia.He had been in poor health for some time. Don was born in Minneapolis, Mn, to Carl and Elizabeth (Hennes) Jensen on March 9, 1926.He and his family moved to Long Prairie, MN. In 1935, where he grew up and attended elementary school and High School. He playedall sports and was Captain of the football team. He graduated in 1944.He Enlisted in the Army Air Force and served during WWII from 1944-1946 as a tail gunner in a B 17. After being discharged he went back to Long Prairie and worked at a print shop and attended St. Cloud Tech.He moved to Minneapolis and went to work for NW Bell Telephone Co. He married Gladys Johnson, Jan. 10, 1948 in Long Prairie. They lived in Minneapolis, transferred to Austin and then Rochester where he retired from NW Bell after 37 years in 1983.After retirement he and Gladys enjoyed their Lake home in Osakis in the summer and going to Arizona in the winter for 18 years. Don is survived by his wife; Gladys, Daughters; Sharon Kamm of Rochester, MN., Janice Jensen of Duluth, MN. And a son Daniel Jensen of Plainview Mn. Grandchildren; Heidi Erickson, Mandi Derr, Tyler Kamm, Aaron Link, Ian Link,Tara Jensen, Kayla Jensen, Mali Jensen and 10 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a brother Carl Jensen and a sister Anna M. Jackson. His wife and family describe Don as Mr Fix it, a loving caring husband, father and grandfather. Aman who liked to work with wood and stained glass. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching football , baseball and golf. He liked it when family and friends would come to the lake home that he built.Many, many happy memories were made there by all.
