Donald Johnson

Donald Evi Johnson, age 88, of Rochester, MN passed away Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 in Rochester, MN. He was born March 26th, 1936 in St. Peter, MN to Carlton and Dora (Miller) Johnson. He grew up in Rochester and graduated Rochester High School class of 1954. Donald served in the U.S. Army from October 1954 to Sept 1956. Then was a member of the Army reserve until October of 1962. He married Alice Raaen of Rochester, MN on November 22nd, 1956 at Bethel Lutheran Church. Together they had six children, Daniel, Debbilyn, Davin, Dianalyn, Dawnalyn and Daralyn. Alice (Dal) passed away on October 31st, 2002. He married Joanne Thompson on Oct 2nd, 2004. He was employed by IBM for 30 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Kiwanis Golden K Club. Don with his wife, Dal, enjoyed running the Pinewood Derby races for many years in Rochester and surrounding areas. He volunteered at Channel One food bank. He also enjoyed fishing and bowling. Donald was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church all his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Dora; spouse, Alice (Dal); son, Daniel; daughter, Dianalyn Trebelhorn; fraternal twin brother, David Johnson; and beloved dog, Duke.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; children, Davin (Brenda) Johnson, Debbilyn Lopez, Dawnalyn Steinman, and Daralyn (Tom) Taylor; son-in-law, Randy Trebelhorn; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Bonnie (Dale) Ragan.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 11th, 2024 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home (5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, MN) and one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12th, 2024 at 11:00am at Bethel Lutheran Church (810 3rd Ave SE Rochester, MN) with burial following at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN.
