Dennis J. Heim, 75, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 5, 2016. Dennis was born June 2, 1940 in Milwaukee, WI to Joseph and Cora (Arthur) Heim and moved to Grand Rapids, MN with his family in 1945. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1958 and served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1966 with assignments in Morocco, North Africa, England and the United States. On March 25, 1961 he married Jeanette Marjorie Deboo in Peterborough, England. In 1966, Dennis joined IBM in Rochester and worked in various engineering and management positions until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement, he worked with his son to develop an accounting and tax service business in St. Paul, taught classes for the AARP Driver Safety Program and did volunteer work for the Olmsted Medical Center Auxiliary and the Rochester Police Department. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanette; sons, David (Laurie) of Stillwater, MN, Stevan (Cindy) of Grand Rapids, MN, Robert (Robin) of Kasson, MN and daughter, Julie (John) Schramek of Austin, MN; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cora and by his grandson, Joseph Benard Heim. A Mass of Resurrection will be held 11:00AM Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday, March 9. 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW and one hour prior to the service at the church. Father Joseph Fogal will be celebrant with interment at Oakwood East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
