Delores Lori Regedal, 90, of Rochester, MN, died Monday, November 25, 2013 at Madonna Towers in Rochester. Born Delores Mae Roloff on August 8, 1923 in Winona, MN, she was a graduate of St. Marys School of Nursing in Rochester, MN, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the College of St. Teresa in Winona.She was a clinical instructor at St. Marys a year prior to her marriage.In California, she completed work for her Public Health Nursing Certificate, and her Master of Arts degree from Fresno State College. As a newcomer to Bakersfield, CA, Mrs. Regedal was in the first group of employees before the opening of Greater Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, and was the Head Nurse in Newborn Nursery.She was a school nurse at North High School for 20 years and, after a years sabbatical leave, served as chairman of Health Services in the Kern High School District. Lori was active in the California Nurses Association, Arvin and Foothill Faculty Wives Clubs, and the Ladies Guild of Lutheran Church of Prayer.She was a member of the YWCA for over 20 years, a life member of St. Marys Alumni Association, the California Teachers Association, and founding member of California Living Museum (CALM).After 48 years in Bakersfield, the Regedals moved back to Minnesota in 2004. Delores and her husband of 60 years, Richard, who was a school psychologist in the Kern High School District, traveled extensively and included, aside from the USA and Canada, Asia, Europe, and more adventurous trips to Africa, the Amazon, Easter Island, Galapagos, and four trips to Russia (including the Soviet Far East). Friends remember her for her good memory and thoroughness. She is survived by her sister, Carol (William) Swearingen of Addison, TX; and nine nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sister Lorraine Jobelius; and brother, George Roloff of Green Bay, WI. Currently a member of Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 2619 9th Ave NW, Rochester, MN55901, memorials may be made to the church or a charity of your choice.No services were requested.Mrs. Regedal bequeathed her remains to Mayo Clinic Foundation for medical research.
