Deborah Kastner

Deborah Lynn Kastner, age 74, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, Minnesota.

Deborah, whom friends called "Deb" was born May 14, 1950 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Arthur and Lorraine (Meisner) DeClark. Deb was a 1968 graduate of John Marshall High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She married her high school sweetheart Thomas Kastner Sr. on April 11, 1970 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and they shared 54 years of marriage. Deb worked various part time positions as Tom's career with Continental Tire took them to Chicago, Illinois and then to Rochester, Minnesota.

Deb enjoyed long scenic car rides with her husband and spending time with her beloved family, especially her granddaughter. She loved all animals, particularly her dogs Punky, Chipper and Muffin as well as the neighbor's dog, Cosmo, who she and her husband often took care of when their neighbors traveled. Deb had many interests including arts and crafts, making pottery and playing cards, and had collections of many kinds. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was very kind and thoughtful, and was loved by many. Deb was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Deb is preceded in death by her father and mother, Arthur and Lorraine (Meisner) DeClark; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Margaret (Trunde) Kastner; and her brother-in-law, Paul Kastner.

Deb is survived by her husband, Thomas Kastner Sr. of Rochester, Minnesota; her son, Thomas (Tabitha) Kastner Jr.; her granddaughter, Kelsey Kastner; her sister, Doreen (Ken) Cottingham; her brother, Doug (Sue) DeClark; her nieces, Lindsay (Ryan) Thurber and Ashley (Greg) Barforth; her great niece Adalynn Thurber; her great nephew, Kai Barforth; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Sommers and Nancy Kastner; her brother-in-law John (Judy) Kastner and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Kastner Family would like to thank all of those at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, Minnesota who attended to her every need while Deb was in their care.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Pax Christi Catholic Church 4135 18th Ave NW, Rochester, Minnesota. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rochester, Minnesota.
