David Schleicher

David L. Schleicher (81) of Rochester, MN, died on Monday, Mar. 25, 2024, at The Homestead. David passed peacefully in his sleep of natural causes after a brief time in the care of Seasons Hospice.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2024, 3:00 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Visitation will also be on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church. (4520 19th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN)

David Lawrence Schleicher was born on Oct. 5, 1942, in Red Wing, MN, to Elmer and Luella Schleicher. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and his wife, Mona, whom he lost to cancer in Jan. of 2011. Survivors include his brother Carl Schleicher of Colorado, his daughter Lisa (Douglas) Burton, his son Steven (Sara) Schleicher and five grandchildren: Alexander (Alison), Jacob and Samantha Burton and Owen and Sofie Schleicher.

David grew up in the town of Zumbrota, MN. He earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Mankato State University which led to a long term career at IBM. After marrying Mona in 1964, David's career took him from Minnesota to Nebraska, New Jersey, Connecticut and Texas. David and Mona eventually retired to their home on the lake in northern Wisconsin, which they enjoyed even more when the family could visit.

David enjoyed the friends he made through IBM and at Resurrection Lutheran Church where he was a longtime member. He was an avid reader and liked to attend Bible study. The family is comforted to know God's promise of eternal life and that David is now in the loving arms of his Savior.
