David M. King, 74, of West Concord, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic, St. Marys campus. David was born December 17, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Frederick and Jane (McClugage) King. He was a 1960 graduate of John Marshall High School and went on to receive his Bachelors in English from the University of Minnesota and his Masters in counseling from Bemidji State University. David worked for P.O.R.T. and Omnia and retired from the Minnesota office of Public Defenders, where he was a juvenile dispositional advisor for the 3rd Judicial District. David loved music, especially Van Morrison and was fondly referred to as the jazzman. He had a passion for photography, bird watching, playing piano and golfing. David was known for his dry humor, his smirk, being quiet but with a compassionate side for helping others. David is survived by his children, Breon (Sandy) King of Anoka, MN, David "Chip" (Cristy) King of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Erica King of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, William Finn King, London King; siblings, William (Tamacia) King, Fred (Bonnie) King, Carol Jo King, Barb (Don) Porath, Laurie King; sister-in-law, Sue King; best friend, Darilyn Franko; his beloved cat, Boof and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his brother, Dan "Boone" and by his parents.
