David, the only child of Vernon and Ruth (Rahm) Pomroy, was born on January 16, 1938, in Rochester, MN. He passed away on October 6, 2013, in his home city of Roseville, CA, due to complications following a stroke in August. David grew up in Lake City, MN, graduating in 1956 from Lincoln High School.An Eagle Scout, he also held jobs at the Lake City Graphic and Lake City Bank prior to completing his Certificate in Public Accounting at the Academy of Accountancy in Minneapolis in 1959. At 21, David married Nancy Joy Hunecke of Frontenac, MN (currently of Fair Oaks, CA). They moved to Pasadena, CA, where he enjoyed singing bass in the Lake Avenue Congregational Church choir and assisting the Jaycees by handing out programs at the Rose Bowl each year. He held the position of California State Auditor for over 30 years. In 1970, he was transferred to Sacramento, and the family moved to a suburb, Fair Oaks, CA. David was very active in retirement, particularly enjoying Square Dancing locally with The Mavericks Square Dance Club, as well as with friends in Texas. He loved to go to auctions and tool sales. Grandpa David also enjoyed visiting his 13 grandchildren, requiring road trips to Riverside and Bakersfield, CA, and to Portland, OR. He was pleased to know his second great-grandchild was born September 25, and that a 14th grandchild is on the way! He is survived by his four children, Mary Key (Scott), Bob Pomroy (Tennie), Jennie Higgins (Mark), and Tom Pomroy (Serena). Friends and family are invited to a graveside service at Pleasant Prairie (Dale) Cemetery on Highway 63 in South Troy, MN, at 11 am Friday October 18. The family wishes to thank the Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes of Rochester and Allen Whipple for their assistance. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Fairvale Baptist Church, Fair Oaks, CA at 5 pm Saturday, October 19. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) at jdrf.org. David and two of his grandsons have been blessed by the advancements made possible by the JDRF in the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes.
