David Baumgartner

David Baumgartner, age 74, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on October 2, 2024, in Rochester.

David Eugene Baumgartner was born on November 8, 1949, in New Castle, Indiana. He graduated from Straughn High School in 1969. He then moved to Minnesota to attend Minnesota Bible College. On May 11, 1974, David married Anita Lenius in Perham, Minnesota. The couple celebrated their 50th Anniversary earlier this year.

David worked at Mayo Clinic for many years. He was active in Civil War Roundtable events at the History Center of Olmsted County. David loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed music, especially singing with the men's group at church and with Resounding Voices in Rochester. He will be remembered for his kind spirit and genuine smile.

David is survived by his wife, Anita; his sons, Aaron (Aimee) of Eyota, and Ryan of Rochester; his daughter, Alissa of Rochester; and his grandchildren, Lucas and Greta of Eyota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Avis Baumgartner; his brothers, Joe (Wanda), and James; and his nephew, Christopher.

The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 4:00 pm at People of Hope Lutheran Church in Rochester. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service, beginning at 2:30 pm.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cottagewood Senior Communities for the wonderful care they gave David.
