Daryl Rudolph Newhouse, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023 at The Homestead of Rochester.
Daryl was born on October 30, 1933 in La Crescent, MN to parents Rudolph "Rudy" and June (Orr) Newhouse. After graduating from high school, Daryl joined the United States Navy where he served for 4 years. During this time, he served in the Korean War, and upon being honorably discharged he was awarded with the Nation Defense Medal, and the Medal of Good Conduct. Daryl spent the remainder of his career working at IBM as a project Manager. On September 20, 1958 Daryl married the absolute love of his life, Whyon Kinstler. Together they had two daughters, Bonita and Vicki.
Daryl was known for many things, but those that knew him best knew that he was very particular. This was true when it came to clothing, placement of items, and even gardening with his wife. His hobbies included gardening, hunting, traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren. He took great pride in exploring the world with his family, and they made it a tradition to visit Disney. Daryl loved taking pictures, not only of their trips, but every day. He was also an avid Vikings fan, and has his very own brick at the new stadium! He was big on family and made it known. Daryl was kind, gentle, loving, and supportive no matter the situation. Daryl and Whyon spent 65 wonderful years together in which they rarely argued, never used harsh words or raised their voices, and always made it known that they loved each other. He would not let her enter a room without a kiss and telling her he loved her. Daryl's kind heart and generosity will be missed by many.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Whyon; his daughters, Bonita (Craig) Olson and Vicki (Tim) Reuter; grandchildren, Emily (Adam) Benike, Briana (Josh) Ramaker, Krystyna (Eric) Bremer, Jared (Jennifer) Reuter, Carley Reuter; great-grandchildren, Conner, Romey, Jacob, Mason, Willa, Rahel, Maxwell, Brooklyn, Leah, and Oliver; Sisters, Beverly, Lynda, Sandy and Sue; and Brothers, Rod and Brad; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and June; his sister, Arlene; and brother, Brian.
