Darrell A. Schultz, 80 of Rochester died Saturday evening at his home surrounded by his loving family. Darrell August Schultz was born April 24, 1942 in Rochester, MN to Clarence and Dorothy (Hooks) Schultz. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1960, and began farming with his father and brothers. Darrell married Gloria Markham April 14, 1962 in Rochester. The couple continued farming together, and Darrell was a wonderful steward of the land who loved farming. He also worked at IBM for 15 years. Darrell was very creative, a problem solver, and one who could fix anything. He didn't like to leave the farm, but he would to travel with Gloria. Darrell is remembered by his family for his positive attitude and he always had a joke ready for even the bleakest times. Darrell is survived by his wife Gloria and his two daughters Connie (Kenneth) Brooks, and Julie Schultz both of Rochester, and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Clarence (Sharon) Schultz of Elgin, JoAnn Doty of Rochester, Robert Schultz of Pine Island, Jeannie (David) Miller of Silverdale, WA, Barbara (Glenn) Quam of Byron, and Becky Schultz of Byron; sister-in-law's, Rose Bale and Nancy Oien; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A private memorial service will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home.
