Danna Ihrke

June 6 1937-April 8 2024

Danna Ihrke entered heaven on April 8, 2024, at the age of 86. Some may know her as "Punky” Koop from Springfield, MN, or Danna Ihrke from Rochester, MN. Her friends from Sunrise Assisted Living of Minnetonka knew her as Danna Banana.

Being around Danna felt like a warm hug - she was accepting, loving, supportive, and nurturing. She enjoyed a weak cup of coffee with a large dose of creamer and a table of friends and family filled with amusing conversations. Danna often found herself in the silliest situations, which provided endless laughter.

Danna had a deep love of sweets and snacks. She loved her chocolate and considered changing her name to Mrs. Russell Stover.

Danna’s life was well-lived and well-loved. Her spirit is carried on by her loving husband of 63 years, David Ihrke; her 3 children Jeff  (Kathy), Sue (Jeff Rahm), Chris (Kristine); her nine grandchildren Andrea, Andrew, Allison, Griffin, Callahan, Owen, Dawson, Cassidy and Jackson; her siblings, Roberta “Penny” Green (Jim), John Koop (Jill).

Danna’s radiant soul will surround us with love forever.

A private family celebration of life will take place this summer.
