Daniel Parney

Daniel Ling Nam Parney, 16, was placed into the arms of his loving God on Friday, November 9, 2018. Daniel was born May 30, 2002 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada the son of Elizabeth Yan and Ian Parney. He moved with his family to San Francisco and Calgary before settling in Rochester, Minnesota in 2008. Daniel was currently a junior at Mayo High School. He was a member of Student Government, Marching and Symphonic Band, the Alpine Ski Team, the Track and Field Team, and the Cross Country Team, where he was also Spirit Captain. He was involved with the Mayo Honor Society and had lettered in both academics and athletics. Daniel loved science and participated in the Rochester Regional Science Fair every year for the past 5 years with projects focused on brain tumor research, reaching the Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair three times. Daniel was a beloved member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and enjoyed mission trips with friends at Zumbro Lutheran Church. Universally loved, his classmates remember him as gentle and kind, friendly and welcoming, brilliant and witty, and always ready to give of himself to others. He will be deeply missed by his loving family; parents, Elizabeth Yan and Ian Parney, two brothers, James and Maxwell Parney all of Rochester; grandparents Paul and Jean Yan (Vancouver, British Columbia) and Jane and Brian Lowry (Calgary, Alberta); aunt and uncle Lynn and Steve Prysunka and cousins Annie, Mollie, and Sam Prysunka (Wrangell, Alaska) and uncle Bob Parney and cousins Jane and Wyn Parney (Denver, Colorado). He is preceded in death by his grandfather Fred Parney and grandmother Barbara Yan. We were blessed to have had him for the time that we did and are heartbroken it has been cut so short. He is with the Lord and we shall see him again. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God (Psalm 46:4). A Celebration of Life service for Daniel will be held 6:30 PM Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Zumbro Lutheran Church 624 3rd Ave SW, Rochester, MN. The family will receive friends 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday, November 13 at Zumbro Lutheran Church.
