Daniel L. Atkinson

Daniel Lyle Atkinson, 68, of Plainview, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Green Prairie Rehabilitation Center. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN 55901, with Father Tom Loomis officiating. Friends and family may visit from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in West Albany in rural Millville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to diabetes or cancer research. Daniel Lyle Atkinson, 68, of Plainview, was born June 4, 1950 in Lake City, Minnesota to Lyle and Isabelle (Acquard) Atkinson. Dan graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1968. He worked on the family farm in Zumbro Falls and took care of his dad until his dad passed away in 1994. He moved to Plainview and worked full time in the frozen food department at Lakeside Foods for more than 20 years. Dan was an avid Minnesota sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Twins, especially during their winning years. Dan is survived by his siblings, Linda (Harry) Bartz of Grantsburg, WI, Jerrold (Dina) Atkinson of Owatonna and Bonnie (David) Books of Pine Island. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
