Daniel J. Schottler

Daniel J. Schottler of Oronoco, Minn. died Oct. 10, 2015. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN.Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Pastors Steve Schauder and Fran Green will officiate. Dan was born July 28, 1951 to Edward and Lucy Schottler in Austin, Minn. He married Karla Bacon on Sept. 10, 1977 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Withee, Wis. Dan was a 1969 graduate of Pachelli High School. Following graduation, he attended Austin Community College, completing the auto mechanics program. He moved to Rochester and graduated from Rochester Community College with an associates degree in business. He worked in distribution, production control and inventory planning at IBM for 29 years. He also worked for Rochester City Lines for 20 years as a transit and charter driver. He drove Heartland Tour and Travel groups across the country that took him to nearly all 50 states. Dan was a passionate drag racer, building his own 1971 Camaro and racing at North Star Dragway in the Twin Cities and other tracks. In addition, he enjoyed many years of travel with his family across the United States and Europe and always valued spending time with his beloved family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Karla, of Oronoco, Minn., his daughter Kelly (Aaron) of Lakeville, Minn., his son Jon (Krissy) of Rochester, Minn. and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
