Dale Verlen Sanford

Dale Verlen Sanford passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Marys Campus in Rochester. Dale was born on December 2, 1947 in Kasson to Verlen and Dorothy (Meyers) Sanford. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1965. On July 20, 1968 he married Cindy Schmidt at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff. Dale was an avid lifelong car and tractor collector. Most recently, he enjoyed belonging to a car club. He spent time touring the country in a motorhome and wintering in Texas. His working days were spent driving first as a traveling salesman, and then as an over-the-road truck driver and finally as a coach bus driver logging a total of over 2 million miles. He had a soft spot for Miniature Schnauzers and his grandchildren. Dale is survived by his wife, Cindy, his children Darin (Kimberly) Sanford of Stewartville and Tara (Jason) Weishaar of Lakeville; siblings Donna Kieffer of St. Charles and Darla (Kent) Grover of Winona; grandchildren, Delaney Kathryn, Gracie Ann and Bennett Dale; numerous nephews and nieces. Dale is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Jean and Sharon. A memorial service will be held Wednesday December 21, 2016 at 11 am at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at Ranfranz and Vine. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Heart Association.
