Clarence Riess

CLARENCE CARL RIESS Clarence Carl Riess, 96, of Hayfield and formerly of Rock Dell, Minnesota passed away on August 15, 2019, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield. Clarence was born on November 30, 1922, the son of John and Alvina (Schwanke) Riess in Rochester, MN. He attended country school in Douglas, MN. He always enjoyed being outside working in the field, gardening, and mowing lawn and going to McDonalds for a burger and coffee and visiting with people. Clarence enjoyed having family and friends come visit and have coffee. He enjoyed his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Clarence is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Darlene (Virgil) Paape; Carol (Gene) Wendelken, and Larry (Cheryl) Riess; grandchildren, Matthew Paape, Brett (Kayla) Paape, Vanessa (James) Daugherty, Daniel Wendelken, Monica (Jennifer King) Riess; great grandchildren, Travis (Abby) Paape, Maria (Victor Torrez) Paape, Michaela Paape, Emily Paape, Katelynn Paape; great-great grandchildren, Briella Paape, Wyatt Torrez, Braxton Paape; brother-in-law, Allen Anderson, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, Albert, Henry, Herbert, Lester, Walter, Harold, Kenneth and seven sisters, Anna Roth, Rosie Sanford, Leona Messner, Francis Smith, Irene Meyer, Laura (infant) Alvina (infant), sister-in-law, Gloria Anderson, Bernice Behl and Virginia (infant). The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 810 3rd Avenue SE in Rochester. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Blessed be his memory.
