ROCHESTER:Clarence "Neil" Lund died Saturday, 28 January, 2012, at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester as a result of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). He was 83 years old. He was born in Wild Rose, North Dakota on 25 August, 1928. Neil worked as a grocer for most of his working life, starting his career in Willmar, Minnesota, managing and working in Watertown, SD, Long Prairie, Little Falls, Wayzata, Fairmont, and Rochester. He took a short diversion from the food business to work for Pacific Studios serving their motion picture studio clients working in New York City and Los Angeles. He retired to Rochester, having complications from being struck by a car in NYC. A neighbor's dog was lonely during the working day. Neil started to walk the dog. And the exercise brought him back to good health. He decided to go back to work and found a job at the local parking ramp, as a cashier. He continued working at the ramp for more than twenty years, making friends as he made change. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Lund of Rochester. He is also survived by his sisters, Muriel Henry and Maureen Rosenberger; and his brother, Raymond (Joy) Lund all of St. Cloud. He is survived by his children, Steven (Pat) Lund of Mentor Ohio, Jerome (Anne) Lund or Kviteseid, Norway, Richard (Terri) Lund of Los Angeles, and Jean (Mark) Bubak of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Surviving grandchildren, Gus (Barbara) Lund of Kernersville, North Carolina, Debbie Lund of Mentor, Ohio, Petter Lund of Cape Town, South Africa, Jon Lund of Elgin, Illinois, David Lund of Kviteseid, Norway, Laura (Young) Leon of Stevenson Ranch, California, Christiana (Doug) Robb of Agoura Hills, California, Richard Neil (Judy) Lund of Camarillo, California, Erika (Randy) Sutherland of Los Angeles, Ellen Bubak of Santa Monica, California, and Paul Bubak of St. Paul. His surviving great-grandchildren, Alexis Lund, Noah Lund, Zachary Lund, Kaleia Leon, Brodie Leon, Magnolia Robb, and Bryce Lund. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Melvin Lund and Marguerite Madeleine Gauch; two brothers, Gerald Lund and Giles Lund; as well as his sister, Marguerite Jean Lund. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 1:30 pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with Pastor Jean Boese officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 from 5-8 pm at the Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
