Clair Alfred Wittlief

Clair A. Wittlief, 90, of Oronoco, MN, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island, MN. Clair Alfred Wittlief was born to Fred and Hilda (Karlen) Wittlief on May 20, 1932 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Clair grew up on the family farm and attended District 104 Rural School north of Rochester. From 1952-1954 he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. While there, he served in the Ammunition Chemical Corpse. Later, he drove for Allied Van Co. before going into full time farming. On August 12, 1967, Clair married Barbara O'Kane and continued farming until retiring in 2002. Clairs favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting, restoring Oliver's tractor and especially Seminole cattle. Clair is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Lorraine) Wittlief, and Lyle Wittlief; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; his brother, Dale; 2 nieces; and 1 nephew. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Monday, June 6, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church (45 1st Ave NE, Oronoco, MN 55960). Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 pm, Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl. NW, Rochester, MN 55901) as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
