Cindy Nickel passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56 from a stroke on Sunday, April 17th, 2016 in Rochester, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Maslowski. She is survived by her husband, Steve, her five children: Jeff, Tom (Amanda), Sarah, Laura, David, and her siblings: Scott (Cindy) Maslowski, Lynne (Merv) Opatrny, and Paul (Vicki) Maslowski. Cindy was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 19, 1959. She worked for nineteen years as a registered nurse in the cardiovascular intensive unit at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus before she retired to be a full-time mom. She was a servant at heart and devoted her life to caring for those around her. Cindy was a devout Christian who spent her life in pursuit of the heart of Jesus. She read her Bible diligently every day, and was a humble, giving, and godly woman with an ever present joy for life, a playful sense of humor, and an uproarious laugh. She adored her husband and five children, spending time at her lake cabin with her extended family, doting on her dogs, and planning family vacations. The vibrant legacy she leaves is one of devotion, love, servanthood, and earnest prayer. A visitation will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 from 4-7pm and one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10am. Both the visitation and funeral service will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes. Cindy always enjoyed the flowers planted around her house, and those her husband brought her. Flowers can be sent to Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and memorial donations can be made to one of Cindy's favorite organizations, MN Adult & Teen Challenge (www.mntc.org).
