"On the morning of May 12, 2020, with rays of light coming through a gathering of thick pine trees on a hillside in the Black Forest of Colorado Springs a Celebration of Life took place to honor the incredible man we all knew as our son, brother, uncle, nephew, fiancé, and friend: Christopher Liffrig. Chris was born July 3, 1969 to Kenneth and Kathleen (Jarrett) Liffrig of the small town of Mazeppa, Minnesota. Chris spent his childhood and adolescence hungry to learn and explore nature. He spent his days taking trips to the city libraries and building bridges in the woods surrounding his hometown. When Chris got older, he embarked on a college education at the University of Minnesota. He was there for a year before his passion for learning and his big heart lead him to several countries in Europe, Asia and India. Travels like this at his age were nothing short of brave. His bravery didn't stop there, when he returned to the United States, he began his life in California with nothing more than a few hundred dollars in his pocket. Chris worked any job he wasn't physically precluded from doing to provide himself an undergraduate education at California State University, Fullerton. Like anything Chris set his mind to, he didn't stop at simply a Bachelor's. Instead he continued his studies and graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Western State University College of Law in December of 2001. Likewise, he was also admitted to the Texas State Bar and practiced law at Callahan, McCune & Willis, Ameriquest, Lehman Brothers, Citibank, Arch Bay Capital, and Bank of America; among other financial services providers/firms. In addition to being a sharp legal mind, Chris had many interests especially in physics and science. Chris' intelligence had no end and yet he was always humble enough to reach out to friends and family to learn more and share all he knew with the added bonus of his humor. Chris had a tender heart for children and loved spoiling his nephew and niece. His appreciation for the extreme commitment it took to raise the kind of children his niece and nephew are was something he was never shy to mention to his brother and sister-in-law; Dereck and Amy. Those that knew Chris also knew he had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. In fact the more controversial or off color the joke, the more joy it brought Chris. That was important to Chris...bringing others joy. He wanted to see others benefit from something funny he said or wrote and was always willing to go the extra mile to show those in his presence acceptance and kindness. It was at Ameriquest that Chris met his fiancé, Lyndsay Anderson. Their relationship blossomed from a profound and deep friendship. That friendship turned into a love that ran much deeper than either had expected. They spent seven years building a life together before deciding to get engaged and embark on a new chapter of their shared life in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Chris and his fiancé had planned a wedding for September 7, 2020 but unfortunately after less than a year in Colorado, Chris was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. On May 6, 2020, Chris retuned to the Lord after experiencing an acute exacerbation and seeking treatment at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. His fiancé was present to comfort him while he transitioned; she made sure he knew he was loved by her, his family, and friends. Chris is survived by his fiancé Lyndsay Anderson, Mother Kathleen Liffrig, brothers; Paul Liffrig and Dereck (Amy) Liffrig, Nephew Layten, and niece Alivia Liffrig. Chris is also survived by many Aunts and Uncles, and cousins. He is proceeded in death by his Father Kenneth Liffrig. Grandparents Leo and Lorriane (Perrotti) Liffrig, and Wilmer and Rosella (Kohn) Jarrett. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for an upcoming date in Mazeppa.
