Lorraine Dunn, 93, of Rochester, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys campus. Lorraine was born December 3, 1923 in Riverside, CA to Charles and Inez (Brown) Bruce. She was a graduate of Aurelia High School and later attended Iowa State University. On February 29, 1948, Lorraine married John Dunn in rural Cherokee, IA. With a passion for music, Lorraine started with the violin before buying her first dulcimer in Branson and teaching herself to play. Over the years, Lorraine built her own dulcimers from various woods cardboard and even a gourd. She was known as the "dulcimer lady", was a member of the dulcimer club in Mankato and then The Northland Mountain Dulcimer club in Rochester. She was also a member of Rochester Baptist Church. Besides music, Lorraine loved her animals, had a green thumb for growing all types of flowers, loved birds, especially cardinals and was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour books. Above all, Lorraine loved The Lord. She is survived by her children, Mary (Brad) Mikkalson of Rochester, Kathy (Joe) Haldeman of Aurora, CO, Dan (Dorothy) Dunn of Owatonna, Kelly Dunn of Boise, ID, Jeff )Rev. Louanne) Dunn of Goshen, IN; grandchildren, Daniel O. Dunn, Kris Mikkalson, Jennifer (Cole) Wilcox, Karyn (Jeremiah) Richardson, Joann Haldeman; several great-grandchildren; sister, Eunice Duxbury of Scotland and sister-in-law, Flo Bruce of Clinton, IA. Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving husband, John; brother, Wayne Bruce and by her parents. A funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester with Pastor Don Noonan officiating. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Inurnment will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Danville Township Cemetery, Minnesota Lake, MN.
