Cheryl Kuntz Prouty

March 27, 1969 — August 9, 2019

Cheryl Lynn Kuntz Prouty, 50, of Rochester, MN died Friday, August 9, 2019 at her home due to complications following cancer treatments. Cheryl Lynn Kuntz was born March, 27 1969 in Rochester, MN. She is the daughter of Arnold and Lois (Hammermeister) Kuntz. She graduated in the John Marshall High School class of 1987, obtained her Associates of Arts degree from Rochester Community College and her Legal Secretary degree from Rochester Technical College. After an internship with O'Brien and Wolf law firm, Cheryl joined United States Cellular which eventually became Verizon where she worked for 6 years until choosing to stay home and raise kids. She picked up some pocket money as an occasional server at the Outback Steakhouse and Rochester Golf and Country Club. She eventually returned to work at Mayo Clinic for 12 years and valued her "work from home" telecommuting setting. In 1994 she married Rodney Prouty and they raised three children: Hunter, Savhannah and Jack. She enjoyed the experiences of building a new house and moving to Pine Island, moving into an old, nostalgic home in Kasson, trying the hobby farm life and finally landing in the maintenance free lifestyle of condo living complete with a pool. Although she and Rodney were separated, they had a strong alliance in parenting, in friendship and in life. Cheryl enjoyed decorating and fashion. Whether new or old she had a marvelous creative nature to design unique living spaces using furniture, color, texture, decoration and her own touch of BLING! She had the same flair for fashion implementing scarfs, shoes, hats and jewelry to always create a fabulous, eye-catching appeal. Music was also a unique quality of Cheryl's. Having played violin through high school, she learned to play Bass Guitar and perform with The Hollywood Nights Band for wedding dances and nightclubs. Her specialty featured her sawing the fiddle to the Orange Blossom Special. Cheryl fought a strong and brave battle with cancer in 2002 and again in 2017. Loved ones, family and friends, remember Cheryl as beautiful inside and out. A kind heart, humble giver, fun spirit, true to nature and deeply loving. Her presence, smile and style that was all her own will be forever cherished. She is survived by Rodney, her three children, Hunter Prouty (Taylor Rasmussen) Savhannah Prouty (Keegan Priebe) and Jack Prouty(Grace Marsland), her mother Lois Kuntz, one brother Chad (Melissa) Kuntz, sisters Judy (Andy) Meinke-Streit, Lisa (Dale) Martinson, Renee (Jerry) Babcock, and multiple nieces , nephews, and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her father Arnold Kuntz and brother, Jeffrey Kuntz.
