Rochester, MN - Charlotte Mae Walker, age 83,died at Central Towers on Friday, July 1, 2011. A memorial service for her will be held at a later date in Fairmount, North Dakota. Charlotte was born in Fairmount, North Dakota to Charles and Anna (Splittgerber) Thompson on December 18, 1927.She graduated from Fairmount High School in 1945.She was too young to go to Minneapolis School of Business at that time so she worked at Dayton's until she could attend. After business school in 1948 she went to work for American Hardware Mutual Insurance. She married Daniel Eugene Walker in Fairmount, ND on July 3, 1948.From 1957-1960 she worked for the Austin Bank and in 1960 she went to work for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, as a Secretary in the Metabolic (Diabetes) Department for Drs. Hoffman, Mayberry and Palumboand also as supervisor for Secretary's in the Rheumatology Department for Drs. Diessner, Merritt and Comos. She retired in 1992.She and her husband lived in Rural Zumbro Falls where they built a home in 1978.Mr. Walker died in 1995.Charlotte was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Eastern Star.She enjoyed bowling, playing the keyboard with one hand, scratch offs, and riding the weekly Shopping Bus. She is survived by her special friend and companion, Helen Peter, her guardian angelas she liked to say; a niece, Marvia Boettcher of Bismark, ND; a step-nephew, Earl Schoweiler (Deb) of Fairmount, ND; and step-nieces,Karen Hedtke (Randall) of Barrett, MN, Kay Nelson (Roger) of Fairmount, ND, Elizabeth Beth Mc Conn (Thomas) of Plymouth, MN, and Roberta Bert Whitehead (Guy) of Wapheton, ND.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Marvin and Daryl E. Thompson
