Charles A. "Chuck" Krulas, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at the age of 82. Chuck was born in Red Wing, MN where he spent much of his youth playing along the Mississippi River and working to become an Eagle Scout. After high school, he spent four years in the Navy on the destroyer USS Blandy as a sonar technician. Upon his return from the Navy in 1962 he married Joanne Huppert of Prescott, WI. They moved to Rochester where Chuck worked as a Quality Engineer at IBM for 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and canoeing in the Boundary Waters and had a deep affection for dogs. Chuck was very involved with the Boy Scouts as a Scout Leader, a member of the Order of the Arrow, and as a Wood Badge Instructor. In 1999 he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to his council. Later in life, he became a volunteer at Quarry Hill Nature Center and was an avid birdwatcher, traveling around the state to spot rare birds and participate in bird counts. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Chuck is survived by his wife, Joanne; his son, Mark of Miami, FL; his daughters, Dawn McWhorter of Menomonie, WI and Jill Walker of Lake Placid, NY, and his grandchildren Hannah and Ben McWhorter.
