Charles Koenig

Charles "Chuck" Alexander Koenig, 92, passed away peacefully with family on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, at Willows & Waters Senior Living in Rochester, MN.

Chuck was born on March 28, 1932, as the eldest son of Alexander and Ella (Bell) Koenig, in Oronoco. He grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1949. He then attended the University of Minnesota Agricultural School on the St Paul Campus for one year. He served in the 13th Engineer Combat Battalion of the 7th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion for over 60 years and was a Boys State Counselor for 20 years. He was also a member of the Eagles. On June 23, 1956 he married Rose Klossner and they had three children. He worked at IBM for 35 years, retiring as a project manager. He was a founding and lifelong member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending summers with family at the cabin in Shell Lake, WI. and wintering in Scottsdale, AZ. He loved photography, space, science, travel, landscaping, and was an avid Gophers football fan since 1949.

He was survived by his two sons, Steve (Deanna) Koenig, Jerry Koenig; daughter, Carol Koenig; grandchildren, Tera (Jesse) Kellner, Adam Koenig, Tasha Koenig; great-grandchildren, Tessa, Jenna and Becca Kellner; and sister Florence (Jim) Girod.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of sixty-one years Rose; and brother, Gordon Koenig, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (559 20th St SW, Rochester, MN 55902). Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors to follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
