Charles Chuck W. Walters, age 93, passed away on December 13, 2014 after a long illness at Madonna Towers Nursing Home in Rochester. He was born in Rochester, Minnesota on June 21, 1921, to Charles and Palma (Pederson) Walters. Chuck graduated from Rochester High School in 1939, and then attended Rochester Junior College before being drafted to serve in World War II. He served four years in the U.S. Army Air Corp including two and a half years overseas in the China Burma India Theater. After the service, he began working for Rochester Ready-Mix Concrete Company, retiring in 1985 as president and majority stockholder of the company. Chuck was also a past vice-president of the Midwest Concrete Producers Association and served as a board member of the Rochester State Bank. He was a member of the Shrine Cycle Patrol, a life member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and the Elks Club. He was also a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Rochester Golf and Country Club for many years, serving as a board member as well. He enjoyed his family, golf, fishing and vacationing at their winter home at the Landings (Fort Meyers, Florida). Chuck is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Jean; two children, Ann (Jay) Sandstrom of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Dr. Bruce (Tammara) Walters of Neilsville, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Chad, Courtney, Caylee, Casey, Jon Charles JC, Ben, and Nora; and six great-grandchildren, Cooper, Nolan, Cambre, Logan, Elin and Camille. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Madonna Towers Chapel with Reverend Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating. The visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Madonna Towers Auditorium. The burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, Minnesota. Memorials are suggested to Madonna Towers Foundation, Gillette children's Shrine Hospital, Christ United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
