Charles Bob R. Matthews, 70, of Rochester, MN died Saturday, November 8, 2014 near Rushford, MN due to heart issues while deer hunting. Charles Bob was born in Athens, TN on August 23, 1944.He graduated from Granville High School in Granville, WI. and then attended Marquette University. He married Nancy Scheets on November 22, 1970 in Clintonville, WI. They moved to Rochester, MN where he managed the Singer Sewing Company in Rochester at the Apache Mall for several years.He later went to work in car sales and commercial refrigeration.He also worked in real estate and finally in mortgage loans with Wells Fargo and Home Federal in Rochester.Bob served on the board of Community Housing Partnership and also worked with several other non-profit organizations in and around Rochester.He received many awards for his service to the community.He was an avid hunter and enjoyed reading, fishing, and billiards. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Rochester, MN;son, Michael Matthews of Dover, MN; his mother, Mary Matthews of Bel Air, MD; one sister, Mary Ellen (Jose) Acosta of Lewes, DE; and one brother, Larry (Susan) Matthews of Franklin, TN.He is preceded in death by his father and one sister. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Peace United Church of Christ (1503 2nd Avenue NE) with the Pastor Paul Bauch officiating.Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on Thursday, November 13, 2014 and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Community Housing Partnership of Rochester, Christmas Anonymous, or the American Heart Association.
