Catherine Schmiedeberg

Catherine "Cathy" Schmiedeberg, 76, Of Rochester, MN, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN surrounded by her loving family.

Cathy was born July 1, 1948, in Rochester, MN. Daughter of Charles and RoseMary (Kautz) Kelley of Hammond, MN. Cathy attended Lourdes High School and after graduating, attended Dental Assistant School. On May 3, 1969, Cathy married Duane of Plainview, MN and they made their home in Rochester. Cathy was a homemaker for most of her life but also held various other part time positions.

Cathy enjoyed quality time with her loving family, crocheting, sewing, needle point, fishing. She also enjoyed music, especially classic country and dancing whenever she got the chance. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Cathy also enjoyed going to the casino with Duane and friends. She will be remembered for her loving spirit and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Faith was important to Cathy, and she was a long-time member of Pax Christi Catholic Church. She volunteered for religious education, sang in the church choir and helped with other activities as needed.

She leaves behind cherished memories with her children, Jill (Jeff) Fasbender of Oronoco, Mark (Fiancé, Evelyn Kuschel) of Stewartville, Steven (Emily) Schmiedeberg of Chatfield. Her grandchildren include Madelyn and Charles Schmiedeberg and Samantha Fasbender. She is also survived by her siblings Mike (Mary) Kelley, Pat (Jim) Welch, Mary Keeran, Tom (Melinda)Kelley, Sharon (Gary) Wheeler, Julie (Pete) Jarveis, Joe (Sandy) Kelley.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Duane, her parents and her brother Greg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901.
