Catherine L. Delaney, age 89, of Rochester, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Season's Hospice House in Rochester. Catherine Laurentia O-Meara was born on March 21, 1926, in Cordova, MN, to Michael Harry and Kathryn (Hankins) O-Meara. She attended county school in Cordova and graduated from the high school in Le Center. Catherine then attended Mankato State University to pursue a degree in education. Catherine met her husband, John Delaney while teaching in Virginia, MN where their first son, Thomas was born. They moved to Chile, SA where their son, James and daughter, Erin were born. John was a mining engineer for Anaconda Copper Company, he and his family then followed his career to Tucson, AZ, where they spent six years. They also lived in Denver, CO and Boise, ID, where John died on December 5, 1996. Catherine then moved to Rochester, MN to be closer to her family. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, reminiscing with her brothers, sisters and friends. She also enjoyed walking, gardening, sewing and cooking. Catherine is survived by her sons, Thomas Delaney of Rochester and James (Freda) Delaney of Windsor, CA; grandchildren, John (Lauren) Brunkhorst, Christopher and Caitlin Brunkhorst, Rhonda (Eric) McKinnon, Jeff McKinnon, Christopher (Carrie) Morris and Catherine (Marciano) Mendez; sister, Shawn O-Meara of St. Cloud, brothers, William (Marie) O-Meara of Brooklyn Center and Richard (Cindy) O-Meara of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Erin Delaney; brothers, Walter and Lawrence Harry O-Meara; and sister, Patricia Kucera. A memorial graveside service will be at a later date in summer of 2016.
