Caryl Ann Westgard, 80, passed away February 22, 2019 at home with family at her side. Caryl is survived by her husband, Jack, having just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in October; children, Corie (Bill) Dacus, Christine Long, Stepchildren Robert (Deb) Westgard, Karen (Matt) Smith, Lorri Westgard, Michael Westgard (Penny), John Westgard (Paige). Grand children and their spouses and partners, Rachel Long, Tina Jasperson, Peter Westgard, Jami Fishbaugher, Jake Scrabeck, Lindsey Westgard, Christopher Westgard, and John Westgard, Allison Prescott, Aubrey Prescott, Tucker Prescott, and 11 great grandchildren Caryl was preceded in death by half-sister, Louanna Mueller, of Ft. Myers, FL and half-brother Richard Marco. Caryl was born April 2, 1938 in Waterloo, Iowa to John and Gertrude Cumming. She grew up in Racine, WI and was married to Timothy Long for nineteen years having relocated to Rochester, MN. Caryl was employed by Rochester Mayo Clinic for 37 years as a lab technician. Upon retirement from Mayo, Caryl and Jack annually wintered in Mesa AZ for eighteen years where they enjoyed warm winters with other snow-birds friends from MN. Caryl had tenacity and fortitude to survive numerous health challenges in life with grace and a smile inspiring her friends and family to live each day to the fullest. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Mayo Clinic Hospice for the last several months of tender and caring support and assistance. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Gift of Life Transplant House or Mayo Clinic Hospice. A celebration of her life and service will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 10:00am at Ranfranz and Vine funeral home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester MN.
