ROCHESTER - Carolyn Cady, 89, died on Monday, January 10, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Carolyn was born in Belfield, ND on May 1, 1921 to Michael and Elizabeth (Friedt) Hecker. She graduated from Belfield High School. Carolyn married Ivan Cady on November 21, 1942. She worked at St. Marys and the Colonial Hospitals as a nurse's aide, Massey's as a window dresser, and General Trading Company in inventory control. Carolyn enjoyed shopping, antiques, baking, reading, and traveling. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Carolyn is survived by her husband, to whom she was married 68 years, Ivan; three children, Gary (Martha) Cady, of Rochester, Susie (Carl) Lowther, of Dodge Center, and Maria Cady, of Rochester; nine grandchildren, Monica (Gerald) Gilson, of Mukwonago, WI, Aaron (Nicole) Cady, of Pine Island, MN, Noah Cady, of Rochester, Adam (Mani) Howell, of Rochester, Jeffrey Howell, of Rochester, Lindsey Howell, of Rochester, Phillip Johnson, of Minneapolis, MN, Paul Johnson, of West Palm Beach, FL, and Erica Johnson, of Miami, FL; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Selma Schmidt, of Dickinson, ND; and a brother, Albert Hecker, of Bowman, ND.Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Katie, Ann, Margaret, Betty, Gen, and Pauline; three brothers, Anthony, Frank, and Philip; and a foster brother, Louie Pauly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave NW, with Father Lavern Trocinski officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, January 13, 2011 with a Rosary Prayer Service at 6:30 P.M. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church.
