Carol Lucille Crandall

Carol Lucille Crandall, age 97, of Rochester passed away March 2, 2014 in her residence. She was born July 28, 1916 in Winona County, Minnesota to Austin and Mabel (Boynton) Crandall.She attended grade school in Utica, Minnesota and graduated from St. Charles High School n 1935.She then attended Winona University and graduated with a Degree in Education.She taught in numerous Winona County rural schools and in the Lake Johanna School System, near St. Paul, Minnesota.She also taught for two years in the Portland, Oregon School system before relocating to Rochester where she taught first grade, at Jefferson Elementary School from 1950 until her retirement in 1978.She was an outstanding teacher and loved by many of her students. She enjoyedan extensive traveling schedule during her early retirement years often touring with family members and friends.She loved to entertain her cherished church friends and relatives and was appreciated by all for her gracious hospitality.During the last 17 years she has maintained a home at the residence of her sister Mae (Clarence) Craven herein Rochester.She has been as a mother and very special auntie to many.Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Charles, and two sisters, Alice Nelson and Esther Ricter.She is survived by her sister Mae and brother-in-law Clarence Craven of Rochester, and twelve caring nieces and nephews along with numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home, followed by a luncheon with burial at 3 PM Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery in Utica, MN.Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
