ROCHESTER, MN: Carmen Leah Aug, 94, passed away peacefully Monday, May 6, 2013 at Madonna Meadows. She was born January 7, 1919 in High Forest Township to William and Louise (Koepke) Struve. Carmen became the chief telephone operator in Stewartville at the age of 16. She went on to work at IBM, selling tickets at the fairgrounds for races and enjoyed ushering and selling tickets at the Mayo Civic Center. Carmen was an avid golfer with her good friend, Myrt Lusk. Carmen enjoyed music, traveling, spending weekends at the cabin in Lake City and she absolutely loved cooking and entertaining friends and family on holidays. Above all, Carmen loved spending time and making memories with her family. Carmen is survived by her children, Terry Howe of Moab, UT, Tom Howe of Eagen, MN and Barb (Michael) Keefe of Shell Lake, WI; stepson, Jim (Gayle) Aug of Rochester; stepdaughter-in-law, Kathy Aug of Zumbrota and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carmen was preceded in death by her son, Dave Howe; stepson, Dr. Tom Aug; first husband, Derwood Howe and second husband, Neldon Aug. A celebration of Carmen's life will be held 11:30am Friday, May 10, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church 400 5th Ave SW, Rochester. Memorials are preferred to the Madonna Meadows Activities Fund.
