Calvin Orr Lubahn, age 90, died Friday, July 25th at Samaritan Bethany. His body was donated to the Mayo Clinic for education & research and will be cremated & interred at a later date. He was born August 10, 1923 in Rochester, MN to William and Clara (Koenig) Lubahn.He attended school in Oronoco and worked on the farm until entering the U.S. Army on August 11, 1944 where he served in Rhineland Central Europe until being honorably discharged on July 27, 1946. Later in 1946 he met his future wife Mildred as a Damsel in distress when he came to her rescue in his Little Red Tow Truck from Postier & Egger Auto Company.They were married on March 2, 1947 and lived in Rochesterwhere they raised their family of 3 children; Carolyn, Paul, and Kenneth. In the summer of 1971 they moved to their present home north of Douglas. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Oronoco and married to Mildred at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester where he worshipped and served until his death. He was a carpenter all his married life and worked for Benike Construction, The Kruse Co., G.L. West Homebuilding, & Distinctive Carpentry. After retiring from carpentry he worked for the Pine Island High School and also as a security officer for Twin City Security where he enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He loved to build anything out of wood in his shop at home and sold his handiwork in his later years. Calvin is survived by his daughter Carolyn (Mike) Mielke of Apache Junction, AZ, 2 sons Paul (Cheryl) Lubahn of Gills Rock, WI, Kenneth Lubahn of Oronoco, MN and 2 grandchildren Jeffrey of Apache Junction, AZ and Judy Mielke of Rochester, MN.He was preceded in death by his parents William & Clara Lubahn, his wife Mildred, brothers Willis, Darryl, Arvin, & Orville, and daughter-in-law Debra. Family would like to thank Trinity Lutheran Church, Mayo Clinic, Seasons Hospice, and Samaritan Bethany. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 222 6th Avenue SW, Rochester, MN, officiating will be by Rev. Joel Haak. Visitation with family will be the evening of Friday August 15th at Ranfranz Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also 1 hour prior to the service at Trinity There are three Memorial Funds established in Calvins name (at donors choice): Trinity Radio Broadcast, Seasons Hospice or Rochester Central Lutheran School.
