BRIAN DARYL GRAVES PASSED AWAY ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2014, AT RED WING HEALTH CARE COMMUNITY. BRIAN WAS BORN JUNE 17TH, 1959 IN FORT DODGE, IOWA TO DARYL AND MARLENE (SPIREK) GRAVES. HE GRADUATED FROM KASSON-MANTORVILLE HIGH SCHOOL IN 1977.IN JULY OF THE SAME YEAR HE LEFT TO SERVE HIS COUNTRY AS AN AEREOGRAPHERS MATE AND TAUGHT FOR HIS LAST TWO YEARS IN THE NAVY.HE HAD MOBILE UNIT DUTY OUT OF SAN DIEGO, CA WHICH TOOK HIM TO MULTIPLE DESTINATIONS WORLDWIDE. HE RETURNED TO MINNESOTA AND GRADUATED FROM ROCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE.HE ALSO ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MAJORING IN JOURNALISM. HE HAD A CAREER OF SEVERAL YEARS AS A BARTENDER.IT ALL BEGAN AT THE HUBBELL HOUSE IN MANTORVILLE, MANY YEARS AT THE KAHLER HOTEL'S GREENHOUSE RESTAURANT IN ROCHESTER AND FOR A BRIEF TIME OWNING AND OPERATING BASS CAMP RESTAURANT ALONG THEMISSISSIPPI RIVER. IN 1995 HE MARRIED MARGARET (PEGGY) GLYNN. THEY ARE THE PARENTS OF ANTHONY JERARD (A.J.) GLYNN.THEY WERE LATER DIVORCED. HE WORKED FOR SPEEDY DELIVERY FOR SIX YEARS.FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS HE OWNED AND OPERATED CROSSWALK MART, A CONVENIENCE STORE ACROSS FROM ST. MARYS HOSPITAL. ON OCTOBER 4TH OF 2011 HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BRAIN TUMOR.AFTER TWO OPERATIONS AND MANY STROKES HIS LIFE WAS FOREVER ALTERED. THE VA IN MINNEAPOLIS SERVED HIM VERY WELL AS DID THE WING HOUSE GROUP HOME IN ROCHESTER AND RED WING HEALTH CARE COMMUNITY. BRIAN HAD MANY PASSIONS.HE RAISED GOLDEN RETREIVERS.HE LOVED MUSIC AND AT A MOMENTS NOTICE WOULD BREAK INTO SONG.HE WAS A DEVOTED TWINS AND VIKINGS FAN.HE ENJOYED FISHING, HUNTING AND TRAVEL.READING WASHIS CONSTANT COMPANION.HE ALSO LIKED TO COOK. BRIAN WAS A PEOPLE PERSON THROUGH AND THROUGH.HIS SON A.J. WAS THE GREATEST JOY OF HIS LIFE! BRIAN WAS A STRONG MAN OF FAITH HIS WHOLE LIFE.IT WAS THIS FAITH THAT GAVE HIM THE STRENGTH TO ENDURE ALL THAT HE WENT THROUGH AFTER HIS BRAIN SURGERIES. NEVER ONCE BITTER, BUT GIVING GOD THE GLORY FOR GIVING HIM THE STRENGTH TO CARRY ON. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SON A.J. OF ST. CLOUD, MN.HIS MOTHER,MARLENE OHIYON, (JACOB) OF LAKE PARK , FLORIDA.TWO SISTERS, SHERI (KEITH) GORE OF OUTING, MN AND GAIL (RONNIE) HRTANEK OF KASSON, MN.ALSO, A LARGE HOST OF EXTENDED FAMILY AND FRIENDS. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FATHER, DARYL GRAVES. GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE AT 3:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2014, AT OAKWOOD CEMETERY, 41 7TH AVE. NE, ROCHESTER, MN.A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE MEMORIAL SERVICE AT RANFRANZ AND VINE FUNERAL HOME, 5421 ROYAL PLACE N.W., ROCHESTER, MN 55901 WILL BE HELD FROM 4:00 P.M-7:00 P.M. WITH REVEREND JERALD BARNHART OFFICIATING.
