Bonnie Gunderson

Bonnie Gunderson, age 74, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 11, 2016 from cancer. Bonnie Jean (Egeberg) Gunderson was born on March 8, 1941 to Joel and Opaline Egeberg in Fargo, ND.She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Fargo.She graduated from Fargo Central High School in Fargo in 1959 and Concordia College in Moorhead in 1963.She began her elementary education teaching career in Osseo, MN in 1963.June 27, 1964 she married Paul Gunderson and continued her elementary teaching career at Folwell School in Rochester.After retiring from teaching in 2010, she continued to do substitute teaching in the Rochester Catholic and Public School Systems. Bonnie did volunteer work in Rochester and enjoyed Minnesota lake country, boating, square dancing, bridge, gardening and traveling. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Paul of Rochester; two children, Douglas (Annette) Gunderson and Stacy (Dave) Thibedeau; one grandson, Jacob Gunderson; and a brother, David (Jen) Egeberg.She was preceded in death by her parents. There will be a memorial service on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with Pastor Joel Osterlund officiating.Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.Inurnment will take place at Oakwood East Cemetery Columbarium. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Development for cancer research.
