Bonnell "Bonnie" Jean Distad

Bonnell Jean Bonnie Distad age 71 of Burnsville and former Rochester resident, passed away Saturday January 12, 2013.She was born to Franklin & Bernice (Benedict) Bush and grew up in the Rochester area.On August 23, 1961 she married Jerome Jerry Distad and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1995. During their marriage they also had lived in Lincoln, NE from 1969-1984, returning to Rochester and then moving to Burnsville in 1987.Bonnie was self-employed in arts and crafts and used her artistic talents to teach many classes and assist others. She was a true caregiver always concerned with others, and enjoyed the time she spent in daycare taking care of children.She enjoyed gardening, reading, and genealogy as well.Surviving are two sons: Trevor Distad (Helen) of Pine Island, MN and Trent Distad of Nebraska, her longtime companion: Glenn Elfmann of Burnsville, six grandchildren: Danielle Lesage, Nathan and Nicholas Distad, Taylor and Matthew Lambert, and Melaina Distad.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes. Visitation will begin at 11 AM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.Memorials appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
