Bob F. Olmstead, age 78 of Rochester, MN passed away on August 28, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Bob was born November 21, 1937 to Lawrence and Rachel Olmstead of Cornell, WI. He proudly served four years in the Air Force. He married Patricia Moore in 1960 and together they raised three children. Bob worked for Western Airlines as a maintenance foreman and jet mechanic. Following Westerns merger with Delta he began working for Northern Air Cargo in Anchorage, Alaska and retired in 2005. Bob and his family spent 34 years in Alaska. Bob was a Packer fan. His favorite past times included flying his own plane, hunting, fishing, camping and reading. He was an active member and past Governor of Moose Lodge 1534 in Anchorage, AK. Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters, Lori Corbin and Tracy Olmstead; son, John (Midori) Olmstead; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, and five sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; and half-brother, Dale Anthony. A Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A private burial of the ashes will take place at the Cornell Cemetery at a later date.
