Bill Larimer

Billie G. Larimer, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Cottagewood Memory Care Center in Rochester, Minnesota. Bill was born March 14, 1929 in Newell, Iowa to Earl and Lucille Larimer. After graduating from high school in Newell, he enlisted in the Air Force, serving during the Korean War from 1948 to 1953 in Japan and Washington, D.C. Bill met Marjorie Mankell while attending Saint Cloud Teacher's College, and he and Marge were married on August 2, 1958. Bill was a member of Rochester Covenant Church and served as both a deacon and on the board of directors of Lake Beauty Bible Camp for several years. He enjoyed time with family, traveling, snowmobiling, camping, and motorsports. Bill also participated in Scouting as boy and later as a father, serving as cubmaster and scoutmaster when his sons were young. Bill lived in Rochester for 48 years and retired in 1991 from St Mary's Hospital. He remained active in retirement for many years with Air Force reunion events. Bill spent his final years at Cottagewood before finally succumbing to complications from Alzheimer's Disease. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Marge, his parents Earl and Lucillle, brothers Don and Wendell, and grandson Nehemiah. He is survived by sons Grayson, Kayne (Emily), and William (Christina); sister Sharon Greene (David) and three grandchildren: Kendra, Sarah Voehl (Mason) and Caleb. We will miss his company, his generous heart, and his long stories. Visitation will be held at 3:00p.m. on Monday, October 22 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home in Rochester, followed by a funeral service at 4:00p.m. and luncheon following. Interment will take place at 10:15a.m. on Tuesday at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the camp scholarship fund at Rochester Covenant Church.
