Beverly DeWitz Rochester, MN Beverly Alice Joan (Goodenough) DeWitz passed away peacefully at her home on November 14, 2016. She was 84 years old. Beverly was born on March 3, 1932 in Rochester to Raymond and Hazel (Sorenson) Goodenough. Beverly graduated from Rochester High School in 1949. Beverly met Robert DeWitz while working at the employee cafeteria at the Damon Hotel where he was a bellman. They were united in marriage in Rochester on March 28, 1954. Soon after their marriage they moved to White Sands, N.M. while Robert served in the U.S. Army. Upon discharge from the Army they moved back to Rochester. Beverly worked as a secretary at the Army base as well as a secretary at the labor union in Rochester. She also worked as a teller at Northwest Bank. Robert and Beverly were owners of DeWitz Home Builders in Rochester. They were blessed with five children, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She also spent a number of winters at their home in Sun City, AZ. Earlier in life she was an avid golfer and loved to bowl. As a devoted sports fan, she loved watching her favorite Minnesota teams, the Twins and the Wild, and all of her grandchildrens sporting events. She was always ready for an adventure, traveled the world with her husband and eagerly joined any family member who would pick her up for an outing. Her last trip, just days ago, was to her favorite destination, Laughlin, NV. Beverly is survived by her two sisters Carol McKibben of Rochester and Ione Bushman of Fountain Hills, AZ.; her children Lori (Rick) Lovett, Chuck (Sally) DeWitz, Jean (Craig Richardt) DeWitz, all of Rochester, Julie (Brendan) Leisen of Kellogg and Joan (Tony) Bluske of Surprise, AZ.; her grandchildren Tom Lovett, Amy Towner, Bob DeWitz, Jeff DeWitz, Jessica Leisen, Megan Leisen, Katie Spring, Keith Cousins, Dan Cousins, Sam Lowrie and her nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Hazel, her husband Robert, grandson Christopher Lovett and brother-in-law Marlin Bushman. Beverly was a charter member of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Rochester. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Hosanna Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial or American Heart Association.
