Betty Lou Karsten

Betty L. Karsten, 64, of Stewartville, MN, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at her home.

Betty Lou (Patchin) Karsten was born on October 2, 1959 in Rochester MN, to parents Burton and Illa (Growt) Patchin. After graduating from Red Wing High School in 1978, Betty attended Rochester Vocational School, where she graduated from the Medical Secretary Program in 1979. Betty began her career as a unit secretary with the Federal Medical Center from May of 1991 until her retirement in October of 2012. On July 7, 1979, Betty married the love of her life, David Karsten. The couple had two children, Jeremy and Jessica.

Above all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, and did her best to make it to all of her grandkid's events. Some of her favorite things included craft shows, bingo, Winnie the pooh, and gambling. She loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas with her husband, and attending NASCAR races. Betty never missed out on an opportunity to go to garage sales with her daughter, or their annual Christmas cookie baking.

Betty is survived by her husband, David; her children, Jeremy Karsten (Chandra) and Jessica Karsten (Patrick), both of Rochester, MN; three grandchildren, Anna, Owen, and Emme; and three sisters, Karen Wilson of Boonville, MO, Marilyn Kaehler of Grand Rapids, MN, and Darlene Huss of Faribault, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Illa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church (400 5th Ave NE Stewartville, MN 55976). A visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl. NW Rochester, MN 55901) as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.
