Barbara Richter

Barbara Ann Richter, age 86, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on April 12th. Born on March 29, 1939, in Minneapolis, Barb was the beloved wife of Dale for almost 63 years, caring mother to Scott (Patty), Todd, and Troy (Jaralee), and grandmother to Cole, Jack, Chad, and Mark.

Barb had a kind heart, always putting the needs of others before her own. This was felt by everyone, but most deeply by her family, for whom she was a constant source of unconditional love. She brought happiness and joy into the lives of others. Community service was a central value in Barb's life, including her countless volunteer hours with the Methodist Hospital Auxiliary. She was an excellent cook and a gracious host.

Barb lived a wonderful life and traveled the world with Dale and they enjoyed many adventures. The family cabin on Big Bear Lake in Wisconsin was a special place for family gatherings during the summer. She was a snow bird for several years spending winters in Mesa, Arizona.

Though dementia changed her life, she continued to show love to those around her with kisses, hugs and her smile. Barb will be forever missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and service to others will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Chell and Eleanor Knutson. Barb is survived by her devoted husband Dale, her sons, their families, and many relatives here and in Sweden. We are grateful for the support of the caregivers and staff at Homestead Memory Care and Mayo Hospice.

A celebration of life service will be held at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester on May 3, 2025 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or donor's choice in her memory.
