Barbara Lyon Brown

Barbara L. Brown, 96, of Rochester, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester. Barbara Lyon was born March 20, 1917 in Minneapolis, MN. to Burke and Pearl(Deuell) Lyon.She married Leroy Brown on May 15, 1972 in Minneapolis, MN.He died in 1985.Barbara was a secretary for Shell Oil in Minneapolis, retiring in 1971 and then moving to Rochester.She enjoyed gardening, dogs, and traveling.She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester. Barbara is survived by her step-sons, Leroy (Marilyn) Brown of Baxter, MN, and James Brown of Florida; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy, her parents, and two brothers. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, MN. with Reverend Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating.Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Minneapolis.A visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m at the church.
