Barbara Jean Miller

Barbara J. Miller, 88, of Rochester, MN passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Cottagewood Senior Communities. Barbara Jean Kurtz was born January 21, 1929 to Henry and Ellen (Hanson) Kurtz in Minneapolis, MN. Barbara graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1947. She married Kenneth Miller on August 27, 1949. The couple raised their family in Rochester. Kenneth passed away in 1987. Barbara enjoyed playing piano and singing in her church for funerals, weddings and also at the Robert Oudahl Chorale. She enjoyed her family very much and was a wonderful Mom and homemaker. Barbara is survived by her children, Janet (Charles) Mitchell of Miami, FL, Michael (Lori) Miller of Stewartville, MN, Cindy (Bruce) Sullivan of Kasson, MN and Carl Miller of Rochester; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Vincent Kurtz of Springfield, MO; and one sister, Lois (Jim) Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with Chaplain Carol Shaffer officiating. Visitation will take place from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, February 6, 2017.
