Barbara Dunnington

Barbara C. Dunnington, age 78, of Rochester, MN passed away April 19, 2025, at home after a valiant and gracious fought battle with Alzheimer's.

Barbara was born January 4, 1947 in Mason City, IA the daughter of George and Eleanor (Andon) Harris Jr. She attended school in Mason City and moved with her family to Owatonna, MN. She was a graduate of Owatonna High School then earned her LPN at Red Wing Technical Institute. Barb's passion for caring for others led her to a 40 year career in nursing; 10 years for Olmsted Medical Center, 20 years at Mayo Clinic and after retirement 10 years as a supplemental nurse.

Barb was married to Ronald Dunnington on July 20, 1990 in Rochester, MN. They were blessed with 34 years of marriage and together they shared a passion for travel and spending their winters in Florida. Barb enjoyed playing tennis both in Minnesota and Florida and loved her social outings with friends.

Barb is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Dunnington of Rochester, MN; her two sons, Bryan (Amy) Carlson and Scott (Erica) Carlson; grandchildren Jared Carlson, Kaiya (Jacob) Nelson, and Grant Carlson along with two cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Duffy Harris.

The family would like to especially thank the Mayo In-Home Hospice program for the many hours of assistance, advice, supplies and equipment they furnished us over the past few months.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a time of sharing at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN.
