Barbara Ann Golenzer

Barbara Ann Golenzer, 67 years old, from Rochester, MN., passed away on the evening of August 29th 2017. She went to the Lord while surrounded by her family after a courageous fight with colon cancer. She was born January 20th 1950 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Barbara Ann Christenson . She married Gene Golenzer, of Rochester, on August 30th 1975 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander, MN. Barb graduated high school from Leroy Ostrander high school in 1968, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Minnesota State at Mankato in 1972. She joined the Mayo Clinic in 1977, and worked for 37 years in the section of scientific publications. Her hobbies included traveling, cooking, reading, landscaping, taking walks, being with family, and playing with her pets. She was preceded in death by her parents: Milo and Alice Christenson; a sister, Arlene Fisher, and her mother and father in-law, Victor and Helen Golenzer Survivors include her husband: Gene, son: Nathan (Cindy), grandchildren Mariah and Evan, Siblings Merlin (Ellie) Christenson of Rochester, Cleone Shula of Rochester , Dale (Patty) Christenson of Rochester, Kermit (Jean) Christenson of Pine Island, MN, Ruby (Larry) Holsapple of Bloomington MN, Priscilla (Doug) Rownd of Oronoco, MN, and Linda (Chas) Johnson of Lakeville, MN. The funeral will be held at St, John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11 - 4th Ave SW, Rochester, MN 55902 (www.sj.org), at 10:00 am., Saturday September 02, 2017. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
