Barbara A. Bakkela

A memorial service for Barbara A. Bakkela, 93, of Rochester, MN will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Barbara Ann Bakkela was born on October 18, 1921 in Red Wing, MN to Ludwig and Eunice (Regan) Bakkela.She died on November 8, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in St. Charles, MN. Barbara moved with her family to Rochester at a young age. Sheenlisted in the United States Army in August of 1943 against the wishes of her parents.She was discharged in March of 1945 and worked as a Psychology Technician for many years at the Rochester State Hospital.She enjoyed astronomy, reading and listening to a variety of music.Barbara was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, MN. Survivors include her friends, Joyce Sharp and Bob Dunn of Rochester, MN.
